I will be coming into the Wisconsin Dells area in a couple of weeks. I will have a buddy with me who has never been on a sled. Are there any rideable trails near the Dells? Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I rode a bunch of great trails around madison at xmas. Not sure of current conditions, but I had some great riding in 500 miles

There are some really nice trails within a half hour of the Dells. Unless we get more snow they will not be rideable in a few weeks. Lots of traffic in the Portage area lately.

This area has been p!$$ pounded over the last 10 days by people from all over the state of WI, and by people from every surrounding state. The trails are holding up fair with the cold weather we've had, BUT there are a lot of 30* days coming up, and lots of sunny days. The forecast for next week is for a couple of 40* days, and there is no snow whatsoever in the forecast, in fact there is rain in the 5 day. I would definitely check back, but right now, I wouldn't count on it. Sorry, it was fun while it lasted, but our January thaw is knockin' on the door. FYI, I'm 25 miles south of The Dells. If ya wanna PM me when it gets closer to your vacation, I can give you a run down.

how do you think the trails will hold up for this weekend

We made a last minute decision to go to the Dells over New Years. It was a two family water park vacation, but I took a sled... just in case.
From H by 90 everything north was crap, from H south was awesome. Granted I only road 65 miles, but it was all flat and had a good snow base. It was my sons first time on snowmobile outside of Indiana, and we didnt see another sled the whole morning.

This will likely be the last weekend open. I have a hunch we'll shut down our quadrant of Dane county on Monday, with the expected weather. Mid 30's and low 40's with rain. Typically surrounding counties follow suit.

flashy36: trails are marginal at best , some good some poor , what is disappointing is the weather forecast , possible mid 30 temps and drizzle for saturday to sunday pm , if we dont get serious snow at least 6-8 inches we are done in juneau , monroe, sauk countys , the clubs have done a great job pounding the 12" plus that we have got to create a great base, the cold temps have set it up , but it wont last 2 weeks , DO THE SNOW DANCE !
