Trimming oak trees

Do I still have time to trim some branches off my oak trees, If I recall your suppose to do it when its cold.

You should be good, the sap has not started back up into the trees yet.

General rule of thumb is don't trim an oak tree from April through August.

Maybe someone in WI can chime in to confirm, but in some counties (Portage is one), to prevent the spread of Oak Wilt, they don't want you cutting from April 1 through September 30.

I was always told, do not cut in the fall until the first hard frost, and stop cutting as soon as there has been a good warm up in the spring.
