hi, last saturday i l blew the rear axle out of my truck, its a 2001 f250 superduty. its looking like im goin to have to spend over 6 or 700 on a new one. however i found a axle out of a newer ford econoline van that has the same gear ratio and bolt pattern. i was wondering if anyone knew if it would fit or if theres anyone whos decent at rebuilding rear difs in southeastern wi. thanks

I could be wrong, but if they are the same bolt pattern and gear ratio, I'd be surprised if it didn't fit.

My dad was recently looking for a controllable no-slip rear diff for a chev, and the parts were swappable from most rear drive GMC vehicles for the last 15 years.

$700 for an axle. That seems really high...or did you blow the differential?. I am not a Ford guy, but I also asume that parts are interchangeable as they are all made by spicer. Is that a full floating axle, or do you have to pull the diff?

thanks, i searched for quite a while and finally found one from a 99 superduty for 300. the axle from my truck was completely destroyed, the fluid leaked out through the main seal and the axle seals and i never noticed any puddle under it because it was always parked on gravel. when i pulled the main cover off i pulled close to a pound of metal shavings and chunks out of it and there was no fluid. even getting the axle from the 99 in there was a pain in the ***. i spent 4 hrs getting it into place because the shocks mounted 2 inches over and i had to weld the brackets to the axle to get it to stay. then after hooking up everything else i went to put the driveshaft on and found out that the new axle came from a v10 and had a 4&3/4 inch yoke instead of a 4 inch yoke so i had to spend a few hours under the truck swapping out yokes. it was **** but its goin good now.
