truck tires

I have 265 75 16 on right know and found a good deal on some 285's Has anyone went to larger tire and what effect on gas milage did it have if any. i know my speedo will be off but want to make sure my milage isnt going to take a big hit thanks

What year truck?? The last set of tires I bought the tire guy said that the next size up would be no problem but when I turn tight to the left or the right it rubs on the inside of my fenders. No damage just bugs me a little cus he said this wouldn't happen. Also mine is a dually and he said that physically I wouldn't notice any difference but on the backs I can tell the tires are a lot closer then the stock size. Almost touching.

I went from 265s to 285s and my gas mileage improved.

Here's the specs:

Sidewall height = .6 bigger
Width = .79 wider
Diameter = 1.18 bigger
Circumference = 3.71 bigger
Revs. per mile = -22.92 (less)
measurements in inches

speed goes from 65 to 67.43

You may have to crank the front torsion bars up a bit. Had to on my 94 when I had 285's.

i have a 02 2500 hd went 245s to 285s the speed was off 3 miles faster also crank up torsion bars .
