Tunnel shine

Trying to shine up my tunnel just useing rags and my hands. It is working a little, but not as good as I want.
Was wondering what others use. Is there a good buffing disc, or something like that?
I looked at that thing that Chip Foose sells, but for 25$, it looks kinda crappy.
Thanks for the help.

I would use the polish you have but try putting it on with 000 steal wool. You can use mothers seems to work also. I used mineral spirits to clean the oxidation each time seemed to really help. The mothers powerball worked also.

minieral spirits and mothers power ball and mothers polish. These worked good for me, but you will still need to use a rag and elbow grease for certain areas.

Flitz makes a ball like the Mothers Ball, also works well and saves some time, but I've spent hours with all kinds of products and elbow grease in order to get that mirror finish.

Um to get a good tunnel shine use mothers aluminum and mag polish. It works like a champ and if u dont want to sit there and do it by hand get the mothers mini ball.

Check out SnoWest, PERFORMANCE/MODIFIED section, there's an entire thread pinned at the top devoted to the polishing

Duner's is what they recommend,(TEXAS) other than that I've used Mother's but Busch's is suppose ti require less effort.

polish

you will find a lot better polish called white diamond in a liquid form and it goes on easy and u dont have to wipe as hard as u do with mothers i think youll be impressed.

I use mothers because it is cheaper and they carry it at carquest, they all seem to work the same for me. But here's the sercret............. time, buff it till your arms are sore, then buff it a couple more hours. A good staring point is to wet sand it with 1500 or 2000 grit with a bucket of water with a little dish soap. Plan on spending a day on it (really!). This one took me 8 hours,no power tools, by hand. Call up your buddies, crank up the music in your garage, add a few beers, and just do it! Once it's done it is lot easier to just touch it up later. People will seem to gravitate towards when they see it, kind of like a baby starring at a shiny watch or people starring at a campfire they can't stop looking at it, when it done right. One more thing, once you have buffed it, sprinkle a little flour on it, this helps to remove the black residue. Remember TIME!!!

With the Mothers ball, can you wash it, or do you just chuck it when your done?
Thanks for the replies. I just have to get the time to get out and do it.
jas123, your sled does look sharp. Mine is gonna take some serious effort to get to that point.
Thanks,
Tim
