Turbo viper vrs new sidewinder

I'm curious. It seems that one and two year old vipers can be had for relatively cheap dollars. They can and have been fitted with turbos and, in some cases, still comply for manufacturers warranties.

How does such a sled compare to the new (read expensive) Sidewinder? Cost? Performance? Trail riding?

I think you'd be nuts to go viper over sidewinder.

Heck the 800's beat the turbo vipers at old forge last year.

You can get an easy 250 outa the sidewinder with reflash/muffler

Sidewinders engine is turbo specific, vipers not, don't hear many/any running over 220 without engine work.

Also the sidewinders fitted the QS3 shocks are supposed to be much better.

Issue some are having is the procross chassis was not designed for a 3 cylinder and the engine doesn't sit at the bottom of the chassis like the zuk twin did. There is a full 4 inches under the engine of the sidewinder, which can make the COG fairly high. time will tell how it handles in the tight stuff. But top end she will run.

IMO, it depends what you want to do with it. I've seen holdover Vipers with zero miles going for under $9k. That leaves a ton of $$ for boltons before you get anywhere near a Sidewinder cost. I have 2 friends with the turbo vipers. They LOVE them. Great sound, performance, reliability, and all trail riding. The power and acceleration is excellent. Does a sidewinder have more? yes. Depends how often you race, and how much time you spend over 125mph. just my $.02. I'd do the viper.

Lots of problems with Vipers fitted with turbos in Europe.Complained of bent rods stopped installing turbos last year. Sidewinder way to go with turbo no doubt about that.

I've been thinking the same question and will ask Kip his opinion. I don't want or need the HP of a SW or even a turbo'd Viper. I'd love the durability of a 4S but in a chassis that handles in the twisties like a Polaris Axys or the current Doo chassis.

BUT...Kip knows of my fondness (tongue firmly in cheek) of the Viper from a reliability standpoint. The LOW price is hard to turn away from.
