Was looking to do an overnight. We are basing out of Krupps in Twin Lakes and was just wondering how far east to book a room for a night? Big Bay? Marquette? Open to ideas. My worry is the snow will get thin and will be pissed that we just didn't stay in the W. U. P..... What are your thoughts??

Big Bay a great ride from TL 109S 8/15 N thru L'Anse then 14W awesome ...but spotty conditions that way right now, might be better to wait for a dump ?
Big Bay Motel nice , gas and cafe right there...Thunder Bay Inn for dinner, then drop back down 5 to 8W and home

Imo maybe a better ride in the Keewee now, stay at the Mariner CH and ride back early am when groomers are thru?

Well I'm not looking to stay up there for another week I don't know what they're getting now but maybe things will improve? Tic says they got snow so that makes me hopeful have you been riding up there Venture North? Or just going by what the map say?

I went to the DMV in L'ance on Thursday to register a sled. Plenty of snow to get through. As long as they don't get a warm up,you will be fine. The town of L'ance has every bit of a foot on the ground.

just going by previous reports and posts.....L'Anse can be thin thru town, but 14E to Big Bay is one of the best trails in the UP, if not the best...
8/15N into L'Anse is a fun trail too...the pipeline.......good food in L'Anse Hilltop Cafe, east end of town on trail
Tom at Big Bay Motel is a great guy, has a heated garage, too...and his webcam on this JD site
let me know if you go, hoping to get up that way in a few weeks ... have fun... Ken

We have ran that round trip in a day. Leave early, you'll be fine. I would not run 8 til they get more snow. Those hills can be bad with low snow conditions.

IDK how hard you like to ride. If you want to make overnight out of it, I will second the Big Bay motel for a good place to stay. You could then drop down to 8 for the trip back that way, and would not be pushed if there is low snow conditions. Several ways to get from Big Bay down to 8. The Huron Mountains offer some really nice scenery, and riding. Check out the clubs info for that area, and go from there. It's a real nice ride.
