U.P. In The Summer Plans.........

Our family is spending a week in Houghton/Hancock this summer in July. My oldest son is attending a Michigan Tech summer school program. I am looking for things to do for the week that the ordinary person might not know about up there. We have been to half a dozen waterfalls, Quincy and Delaware mines, beaches, most of the hot spots. I've been to the U.P. many times and have seen a lot in the past 28 years, but I know there is more to be seen.

I haven't been to High Rock with my wife or sons yet, can I drive out there with a small SUV? I've been there by sled.
Maybe a pontoon rental on the Portage canal?

Who can give me something different to do, or somewhere different to go while there for the week?

Check out the Adventure Mine in Greenland many tour levels that are listed by physical ability so should be something you would not normally do.

You can get to High Rock via a small SUV.

If you do not mind some hiking, then a hike to the top of the Bear Bluffs and then out to the Mouth of the Montreal will provide you with experiences/views you can get nowhere else. Boat rental on the portage would also be neat.

Might be giving you a call, that is one thing I'd like to do. We are staying at the Ramada, so you are kinda handy also.

The pontoons are docked right across from M@M. Right about where you get on the canal with sleds.
