almost half the country affected by winter storm...21 states! and the ones who could have really used it....DENIED!!! frustrating to say the least!! with exception to last year which was only really good compared to previous ones, I wish there was a way we could pop the bubble we seem to be trapped in here in SE Wisconsin!! I'm really starting not to like this mother nature broad :(

The last time we had real good storm here was I think 2011 Feb 2 just before super bowl, 12-16" of snow 3-6' drifts all over. It was awesome, Last year was great here but we lived on 2-4" snows every few days. We need snow as we are in a bad drought as well and ponds were dried up going into winter and looks like they maybe worse coming out. Hope the pattern changes in Mid Feb.

and whether you like winter or not, I don't think many people realize why we need the snow, especially this year! we were in a severe drought heading into this winter, a lot of exposed ground, cold and wind. Not good at all, especially considering as soon as snow melted down here last year it dried up, even with the amount of cover we had. So yes, for riding sake and ground moisture, lets hope February will be a turn around! March historically month with most school closings so we can hold on to hope for then too.

I believe in law of averages but the drought SE WI is in is getting serious. We need snow and rain to catch up or lawns will never have a chance to recover. The damage was bad in Fall so sure hope we start getting storms soon. Last I heard we were 12” behind in moisture rain/snow that’s some serious drought.

You are correct, around 12-15" below normal. Working on a golf course I keep very close track of this, never seen a long dry spell like this for over a year like we are in. Seems to be all .10-.20" rains and very small snowfalls. Last winter with almost 2' of snow on ground I have never seen the melt dry so fast before. Hay yeilds were way down this year and we need rain bad this spring.

Frustrating!! Agreed about the small snow storms. The biggest snow storm we had in the last decade was the April snow storm back in 2018. Such a waste.
I saw some headlines on this storm stating it will cause headaches for majority. I laughed. The people that need it and are prepared for it, don't receive it.... Tis life...
I was really hoping Feb would pull thru with the storms, but that doesn't look to be the case this year.

I have been working for a company in Kansas, who is supposed to get some good snow out of this storm, and they are very happy for the moisture for the farmers! But then 50's next week so it won't last.... LOL
