Do I legally need a helmet and do I need a MI registration or trail permit? Just for one weekend.

Could someone please clarify this and correct me if I'm wrong?.... my understanding is that as long as I don't ride on designated ATV/ORV trails, then I don't need a trail pass.... so if I'm only running on private property or logging roads, two tracks, etc. that aren't marked trails then all I need is my valid (WI) registration stickers.

Also, would the same hold true regarding helmet use since MI has repealled the motorcycle helmet law?

Ripcord, If you are riding JUST on private property then NO Trail Pass or helmet required. If you RIDE ANYWHERE ELSE, YES YOU NEED A PASS AND ARE REQUIRED TO WEAR A HELMET.

Helmets are required no matter where you are riding, unless of course it is on "your own property". For the $16.25 for the trail permit, it's worth it in the event you have to use even a small section of designated trail. The cost of the fine vs. the permit is an absolute no brainer.-Mezz
