we rode everything from copper harbor down to greenland and east to almost baraga just this past sunday / monday / tuesday and most of it was very good to even excellent .............................we prefer to ride the smaller loops rather than the main freeways as much as possible.
Sunday we just cruised around on everything from calumet north up the mountain to CH, thru lac la belle and back to see how things were after the warm up, and they were better than we expected.
Monday south of the lift bridge trail 3 was sugary/choppy in some spots and good snow / great in others, but the trail 13 loop was absolutely great, the frieda loop 121 / 120 was awsome , groomers were out keeping things in nice shape, but they can only do so much in the sugary areas. Down by alston ( trail 109 ) wasn't very good because the snow was less and this was just after a warm up so the base was very hard under sugar. And trail 12 out of greenland east to 109 was lot of road, just ice with maybe an inch of snow since it seems like they are logging that whole stretch so really scraping it down.....................
On tuesday we rode every trail north of the lift bridge and everything was really in great shape, both the snow quality and the grooming. 3 was a lil sugary from hancock to dollar bay or so, but north of that it got better and better, 17 had better snow and was great from hancock to calumet, but was a bit choppy from calumet to where it hits 3 again, 122 from 3 to gay was sugary for a bit near 3 , but was great the rest of the way to gay, 133 from gay to lac la belle was even better, 124 was an absolute dream and we hit it 3 different times (I think), and an FYI, 124 has been re routed where it hits 122, 130 eagle harbor loop was awesome, 132 and 134 were awesome as well.
Everything was much better than we expected after the warm up they had, hats off to the groomers for doing a great job, especially with what they had to work with where the snow was sugary. I would think by the time you get there it should only be better, hope this info helps you out.
