I know this is a crazy year and there might not even be any snow by then, but typically, does the traffic die down once you get into March? We're looking into taking a short trip in March. The UP would work out great but those pics of the bug bar with 100 sleds outside kind of makes you think about how busy it normally is.

March is a great time to ride the UP. Traffic is less and usually plenty of snow that has built up. I've almost always made a trip then and if you're going the first part the snow shouldn't be a problem, but obviously every year is different. I think it was 3 years ago everything was done middle of the month, but the next year I rode April 5th or something like that.
Don't worry about the sleds in the Bug bar photos, everyone was in the UP last weekend and on a cold snowy Saturday everyone was also looking for a place to warm up and rest up like Indy500 said in the other thread. Go for it!

Gary hit it on the head......there may be some holdover traffic since we got such a late start but normally most people have blown their sledding budgets all to Hades by the first part of March.....as such it is normally the lightest month.....go for it

I would say that if the Western UP is still the only place that has snow the beginning of March will be a zoo just like it will be the next month. We need snow to spread out the traffic.
They will have snow just be prepared to experience anything from great trails to 2' whooped out trails. If you go during the week it will be better riding.

March and April are the best months to ride out of the season, nearly year in and year out!
We ride in March more than any other month, generally trails are in their best conditions, way way less sleds on the trails, especially on weekdays. Off trail can start to be iffy in mid to late March as the sun and warmer temps can harden the surface or turn the powder into mashed taters. Still prefer it over January/February!
