Updated Ski Stance for the 2011 Summit Freeride

Well Ski-doo listened to what people have been writing on various forums and also from what dealers have been saying in regards to the fact that they are sitting on a bunch of Summit Hill Climb sled's because of the wider ski stance. The original 2011 Summit Freeride sled was supposed to have a wider ski stance (40-42 inches) than the standard summit, which sucked - actually made me want a Summit X instead (35-37 inch stance, damn thats skinny). Now the updated info I got from my dealer and Ski-doo is the Summit Freeride will have a new ski stance of 38-40 inches, YIPPEY!! I can deal with that so it sealed the deal on my new spring check order for the Freeride with 800 E-tec. So far they can be bought the cheapest at Maverick in Laramie, WY. - Basically 50 dollars over dealer cost. This deal is only for the first 20 snowchecks. The freeride is a totally sweet package now!!

I have a Hillclimb and have been very happy with the performance of the wider ski stance. It requires a little more effort to lay down, but it is not terrible. I got a GREAT deal from Duluth Lawn and Sport last Feb. when I bought it and could not be happier. If someone finds a good deal on a Hillclimb I would not pass it up!

I am going to give the 800 ETEC one year and will order a 2012.

Congrats on the Freeride Skeedoo!

Make sure you know exactly what you are getting. The Freeride has the same Arms as the 2010 summits from my understanding. The 2011 summits have new Arms. The ski/saddle placement as new on the new pilot DS skis. The biggest thing on the Freeride is the new rear skid (SC-5MR). This suspension is designed to slow the rate of transfer thus making the skid react more like a coupled SC-10 style suspension. This suspension is made more for the Jackson Hole Hill climb(stock class), rough terrain and big air hill climbing, and for alot of you UP'ers that boondock. We could throw in a few people that I've seen ditch banging a summit in the north woods (That is the funniest to watch). A summit X or a Everest with air shocks would be my pick but I like powder to carve and climb!

This is a smart move by Ski-Doo regarding the Freeride ski-stance being the same as the 2010 Summits. It's also the same ski-stance set up as the 2010 and 2011 Renegade Backcountry models.
