Utah Trip

So we survived our trip to Utah. We stayed at Beaver Creek Lodge and I can't recommend it enough. Small enough, only 10-12 rooms, but with phenomonal food and service. Great people, all of them. We hired a guide for all 3 days and I'd also recommend that. Unless you know the area or are riding with locals you'll never see all the spots we got to. Snow was great, about 6-7' up top on the ground and there was about 12" of fresh when we got there. In the trees it was bottomless.
Had some carnage on the first day. Blew an engine in the first 2 miles, our guide tookout a front bumper/hood/a arm and broke his hand late in the day. Outside of that no issues. They generally try to keep you with the same guide the whole time and each day they take you into tougher territory. Our last day though the clouds and snow had the tops socked in so we stayed down in the trees.
So with that said, here's the pictures

OK ELF, we all like to put a face to a profile...first picture, which one is you? :)

What was the average altitude you were riding at there?

I am the first guy on the left. The lodge we stayed at was about 7500 ft and we rode mostly at 8500 and above. Although one day we did get all the way down to 6000'. Snow was thin down there. Yes, we ate incredibly well!

The sled next to the tree was our guides accident. It took us a while to get that out and then it was straight up about 30'. Took us old guys a bit of huffing and puffing to climb back up to our sleds.

The rolled over sled on the hill was just a stuck where we just rolled it over and back down. No damage there.

Where along the Wasatch range were you? Youngest daughter used to live in Orem and Mt Timpanogos a few miles from there tops out at like 13,500. Do they let you ride up there?

Nevermind......looked it up......you were way the heck and gone up north.........

Kevin, We rented. It was much easier just flying and renting. Also, we rented ski doo summit 800's with 154x2.6 or 163x3" tracks and those things could climb. Amazing the things we could do.

When you fly out and rent sleds, what do you do with regards to all your other gear? Do you rent that as well? Or do you pack and bring on the plane? It seems hard to be able to pack your helmet, gloves, jacket, bibs etc. I am guessing that would take multiple suitcases for each person. Someday I would love to do a trip like that and I would definitely rent a sled but wondered about all the other gear.

At the place we stayed with your rental they provided gear if you wanted. It was all klim gear, very nice. But we actually brought all of our stuff. A large roller duffel bag held all of my stuff and then I just carried on my back pack. My bag came in at 42 lbs so it wasn't to bad to lug around the airport.

That sounds like the way to do it, I'd like to make a trip like this sometime without the worry of the sleds getting there and running right......
