Variable Exhaust Ouch.....

I started messing with the sleds, cleaning carbs, grease, etc. Went to clean the valves on my sons 440 xcr and found one broke off! I had to pull the head off and get the valve out through the cylinder! I couldnt pull it out because when it broke off it slammed into the piston and got a fat end! How lucky can I be??Still got compression, piston/cylinder looked good, ran before I discovered this mess, started right up and did a grass drag with it..lol, I love snowmobiles..today anyway!

Not familiar with the poos power valve but would think they all would be the same (in a way). I would look the opening for the vavle over real good and make sure no cracks happened. Also if you take your exhaust manifold off will you be able to see the same side of the piston that hit the valve?? If so I would do that and look that piston over real good on the side to make sure there isn't any damage or cracked rings going on that haven't shown a problem yet..

I looked at everything I could see when I had it apart and everything looked good. I will probably find out when its out on the trail and -30, I will keep it close to home on its maiden voyage this winter
