Very dry July and August at NWS office in Negaunee. How did you fare?

It's been pretty dry in the central UP in general for the past 4 years. Our lake is the by far the lowest i've seen it in my 35 year lifetime. Hopefully we'll get pounded with snow this year and get it up about 2 feet which would make the level perfect in my mind.

The Keweenaw has been exceptionally dry as well. June was a decent month for rainfall, from June 19th to the 28th I recorded 4.34". I know we had some smaller totals prior to the 19th, but did not track them. After June, everything went south, we ended up with a total for July of 1.22". August followed suit, dry with a total of .88". To date so far Sept has seen approx .07" of rain. We need rain badly, hopefully it will begin before all of our fall colors, otherwise, it may be a short color season due to over stressed tree's, not to mention increased fire dangers.-Mezz
