Vilas County Trail Opening Delay To Dec 16th

Bureaucracy's finest hour. What ever happend to we ride help remove branches from trail & help run in trails for goomer? Things or getting way too regulated for me. Heck you see a closed gate turn around. No way do you need the entire county to open same day, same hour & minute. Opening date just keeps getting later & later. What a waste of decent trail conditions & lost revenue for the county. Vilas County Trails have been rideable for about a week now. We will see if the 16th holds up or slips to later date.

Reported by: Holly Tomlanovich - Sno-Eagles, Inc.
Date of Report: December 14, 2009
Trail Conditions: Trails Closed
Snow Cover: 10-12 inches

Area Report: Change in the opener
VILAS COUNTY TRAILS SET TO OPEN DECEMBER 16TH.

Sno-Eagles Country has been inspected & is officially sanctioned. We wait for the clubs in the northwest corner of the County to be inspected.

It's SNOWING this morning pretty hard. 3 inches of SNOW. Looking for a total of 4 more inches.

Groomers are out every night now in full grooming mode. Enough SNOW to move from panning to full grooming! Yahoooo!

Almost there! See ya on the trails real soon!

Hey whitedust

I just posted a list of northern wisconsin trails (from what I could find, and who i could get a hold of by phone)...it's in the trail conditions section here on john dee...BTW the x-fire is running excellent..love the new track I put on it (sno-pro 1.375 lug)...much better than the ripsaw I had on her.

Bryan I'm getting tired of this whole inspection thing. Like it is going to make a difference. Everyone knows early season conditions have hazards. Trail looks wet go around that area lakes iffy stay off. We both know these trails have been good to go & more snow than prime time during season last year. They already lost my riding money for last weekend gas, food stop by Trackside & buy new gloves. I'm not slamming the snomo clubs with good intentions but I just don't need big brother telling me when & what I can do. I know you posted a list. A crying shame we need to do that when snow on ground trails used open Dec 1.

I toally agree, and understand what ur saying. They haven't even packed or panned trails in my area..because of the stupid azz deer hunters..how many friggin people hunt with a muzzle loader?? seriously?? Sorry (deer hunters)..just frustrated...I am glad you guys are shooting deer, adn we have very few of these ditch goats left here in wisconsin...as they scare teh crap out of my while I'm on my motorcycle in the summer...though they don't scare me as much as the huge skunk I almost hit...that almost sprayed me last summer while on the bike..lol...Is there anything worse than getting sprayed by a skunk while motorcycling?? lmao!! (almost happened to me..almost)

calm down boys, trail inspections are for correct signing and hazzards in order to get paid for grooming.iam sure all clubs have signs to put back out, replace shot up,damaged signs! logging on most trails during the summer, new trails improvements, new bridges, new businesses, deer areas, lol. fencing in certain areas . shhh vilas county doesn't have a ordinance that says you could not have rode the trails last week.at least there is a nice snow blanket now and the northwoods will be buzzing 8am wed morning. Canadian trail sign says STAY ON THE TRAIL. try and get off LOL

Whitedust...I just found out I am land locked...I cannot ride at all...Lincoln County has decided not to open...so I have NO open trails in my area...If I want to ride I either have to pound ditches or trailer to the open trails...I'm very pizzed off right now!!!

I agree with whitedust, the surest way to piss off a landowner is to make your own rules and ride when you want where you want

Sorry to hear that Bryan & I understand your fustration. We are both way beyond ditch banging from home. If we don't obey the rules then who will? My trailer is snowed in as usual so I'm not going to trailer without great effort. Phelps opens tomorrow so I will give a heads up on trail conditions. Do you still have the pickup? Easier to load up that way. I'm going to test the lake today with my sled see if slush is frozen up....keep that baby pinned for quick on & off.lol

yeah..still got the truck...but I don't have ramps, and loading the crossfire by myself (with a torn rotator cuff)..is a nightmare, until I get higher snowbanks..found out knights will be open, so I might only have to ditch bang for a mile..and the main trail (the RR grade) in Tomahawk should also be open..so I hope to get out this weekend...thank god..I was gonna panic..all kinds of snow and nowhere to ride...lol

You got it...we live in a society of victims..it's always somebody elses fault..instead taking responsibility for their actions.

Remember when if somebody tripped and fell, everybody pointed and laughed??? "now these wimpy kids cry and say it's not funny cause their feelings got hurt, and somebody is gonna get sued..."it's not funny"..YES IT IS..EVERYBODY ELSE STEPPED OVER THE CRACK, YOU'RE THE DUMBAZZ WHO DIDN'T. LMAO!!! (carlos mencia..the comedian said that, or something like that)

If we can't laugh at ourselves, and our friends, when we do something stupid or clumsy...what kinda world are we living in...and what are we teaching our kids??? Everybody does something boneheaded or stupid at one time or another in our lives..right??? gotta be able to laugh at ourselves, or we end up taking ourselves to seriously.

Bryan: Checked all fluids & my Attack started right up got to luv those Yamaha injected 4s engines purred like a kitten. Had to kick down snow level to back sled off trailer rear ramp door very deep need to keep rear flap out of studs. Busted trail around my 3 acres & then went out on the lake. Ice was very solid but surface windblown only about 4 inches of crusty snow but no slush just a little right at the shoreline. Snow in woods knee deep & in the open about midcalf deep. Pulled sled back in by the house & reset my clock from daylight savings time....wish it would chanage automatically pain in butt getting Manual out to reset clock Winter & Spring. Key insert was very loose so tightened that up....don't know what caused that but no big deal just glad I caught it. Loaded up saddlebags with maps , compass, duct tape, space blanket, multitool , emergency hat & parked sled outside on jack. Phelps trails open tomorrow so I'm good to go for first trail ride. It has been a very long wait for me so know how you feel waiting til Saturday.

Whitedust,

Please report! I'm curious to hear about the condition of the northwoods trails and snow. Thinking of heading up to my place in St. Germain this weekend...worth heading up for?
