That is really cool. I would love to have an old Scorpion like the one in the video. It says that the video is circa 1963 at the end, I don't think it was that old, I would say '66-'67. But I have beeen wrong before.

The first turqouise Scorpion was in '64, so the vid could be '64 or so. Regardless of the year, very cool video.

Great Mems........

Thanks Firecatguy for sharing that with us. Man I've watched that video three times. Brings back tons of great memories as kids. Notice the suits the riders are wearing. Now that's staying warm "Northern Style".

That was a great video!! I also believe parts of the film were made more like 1964 or 1965. The Evinrude Skeeter in some of the shots was not introduced until I think the fall of 1964.

Boy does that bring back memories, my first sled was a 66 Scorpion, not very fast, not very reliable, but boy was it fun

gotta love the 1st video, imagine the lawsuits now if you held a race where if you missed the turn you went into barbed wire !!! , i love the sleds that look like army tanks !! , also were those 2 in the yellow outfits and sleds the first TEAM SKIDOO? ,the newest car i saw was a 63 chevy so gotta be circa 63-64

They guy who posted the video on You Tube just changed the date from 1963 to 1965. Back in 1963 there wasn’t much at all in the way of any organized snowmobile activities. It wasn’t until around 1965 that it started to bust loose.

The Evinrude Skeeter in this video was similar to my first sled. I think we got that beauty used in 1967. The drift busting and screwing around not going anywhere was what we did back then.

Rudyard, Michigan. I found the original clip on You Tube.

Rudyard is an unincorporated community within the township located on M-48, near I-75. The community was originally named "Pine River", however, because there was already another town in Michigan with that name, it was changed in 1890 to Rudyard. The name was suggested by Fred Underwood, an executive with the Soo Line Railroad because of his great admiration for Rudyard Kipling. The ZIP code is 49780.

Great stuff! Love it!

Great video's. They bring back lots of memories of riding when I was young, the second video, Vintage Slednecks, looked like the riding around here and then I noticed the sugar beet piles in the background and the sugar beet plant, and found out it was filmed near Drayton, ND about 40 miles north of here.

Cant stop watching

I watch this movie about 2 times a week. I get goose bumps. Must be getting old at 51.

Back in the mid 60ys we had a couple of those yellow ski-doos. I think they were 8 horse power. We called them eggs when we were kids. I remember my Dad put ram tubes on the carbs and our knit scarfs would get sucked in and kill the engine as we rode on our knees.

Now I have a cabin up in Paradise and have rode through Rudyard and I wonder if I could find where that gas station and area is or was?

Neat memory Pro
