Hopefully some of you made it out to Waconia today. If you haven’t been there, you really owe it to yourself to make the trip at least once. Even if you think you’re not a vintage fan, you might be by the time you leave. The sleds are everywhere and unlike the summer shows, people are riding them. You can just stand, watch, and listen.
My real mission was to do some power swap shopping and it came out pretty well – crossed 9 of the 13 items off my list. Might have done better if I hadn’t spent so much time admiring sleds and rearranging my wish list. Chaparral is still in the top spot but I have to say John Deere has moved into the number two slot. Love those Cyclones! Also saw a Winnipeg 500 Liquidator. My drool froze.
I was a little pressed for time and had to leave earlier than I would have normally but I knew Snoluver1 was already rolling west and I can’t let him beat me to the snow. Still, I got some good parts, a T-shirt, and a pork chop feed. Definitely a good day.
The Weather at Waconia was perfect for sledding - about 1 degree with a 25 mph wind. Better than the 55 degrees I hit just outside Rapid City. That just feels weird.
Here’s a few shots that kind of capture the day.
TX Row – They’re here every year.
If you want your young ones to get excited about sledding, just get them one of these.
Early in the day – The crowd was just forming
Innovation at its finest!
Yamaha was featured sled this year. Nice!
Grilled barbequed pork shop – Four bucks, Had two!
