Wakefield-Silver City Conditions?

Does anyone have any info on trail conditions from Wakefield to the Porkies and then maybe down to Berglund and then back to Wakefield. Hoping to make that run 1 day later this week. I heard they have had lots of snow, but also some groomer issues. Thanks!

GRTA in the Wakefield area has been doing a great job with their snow this year. The boys around Bergland did get through on trail 8 along the road. Going up to Silver City will depend on how current the groom is when you go. Try 102 for a few miles. You can easily back track and take trail 1 instead. Trail 1 does hold up better until you hit the intersection south of White Pine. The disadvantage of taking trail 1 is the fact you will not be able to cruise trail 11/South Boundry.
Wouldn't worry about groomer issues. It is more about using the equipment that they do have running. Things are shaping up on that side now.

We rode these trails Dec. 6-7. They were in good shape with good snow. Dropped in Watersmeet took the grade to 13 up to Bergland, White Pine, Silver City to the Porkies. 102 to 8 to Wakefield and stopped in Ironwood for the night. Watersmeet and 13 were rideable. The U.P. Thunderiders are doing what they can with what they have. The snow got real good as we went north and west. Trail 8 along the highway had moguls.....we took the road. White Pine has gas if you were wondering about that.

Enjoy the ride, I recommend it!
