Walker Evans for IQ Shift?

Hello, I'm brand new to this forum and I have a question that I thought I could get an answer for.

I have a 2010 IQ Shift 600 121". I would like to get a Walker Evans shock for the rear but I'm not sure what to get. When looking at Pure Polaris and other sites they have so many different ones. Does anyone have any details about this?

Any help would be appreciated!

If you are looking at the Air Shocks, don't do it. They are prone to problems.

The best way to find fitment is to look at the Polaris Industries site, and click on customers, and there you can go to get parts fitment and information. The IQ shift is the same skid as the Dragon's so a Dragon shock should fit without a problem. The difference with the shift vs. the Dragon's isn't much. Shocks, graphics, some other fanciness.... But for the most part its the same sled.

So, if it were me, I'd go look for the 2010 Dragon 121, and get the rear shock part number and go with that.

Good luck.

Use the reservoir oil shocks. The air shocks if, scratched, leak, and I know guys who have had them and they had troubles with the caps sealing and holding pressure. Imagine the loss of pressure and you are out on the trail, riding flat... no good. They stopped using them for a reason after two seasons..... because they are BBBAAADDDD.

None of the 2010 sleds had the air shocks. Here is the part number for the Dragon 600 IQ rear shock: SUSPENSION, SHOCK, REAR TRACK [7043385]. They are about $250.

You could give HYGEAR suspension a call to see what they would recommend. I long tracked an 04 xcsp a couple years back and those guys were a great help. They have complete kits to upgrade most sleds. As usual let you wallet be your guide because if I remember right the complete kit was 7 or 8 hundered dollars but man did that sled ride like night and day afterwards. I'd also stay away from any air shock. I've had two buddies sleds wreck trips because their bad boy air shocks failed and there is nothing you can do to repair them quickly. Good Luck.

Much appreciated.

Zimmbob, where did you see those for $250? They are $375 on babbitts.

I'm hoping to have a much smoother ride on my Shift without having to put the cams on high. That's a little too stiff for my big rear and med is a little light.

Thanks

Well, I went to a Polaris Dealer website and was looking at shocks, and I may have pulled the wrong one up off of a non-Dragon sled. So $375 might be right. They all vary so much. But you've got lots of choices. There are cheaper ones that would do very well.

I have a Walker Evans IFP/ 16 position ( remote res ) you just turn the clicker for your needs. it is pretty stiff at the lowest setting ( FYI ). This would fit if you have 13.9 " of travel and I'm pretty sure get you where you want as far as stiffness. HOWEVER..... Just some thoughts about shocks. I had modified a SD front end when I came across this senario , I wanted to put Fox Floats on it. It occured to me that if I was out on a multiday excursion ( UP North somewhere ) and I had a shock issue, I could not just walk into a Doo dealer and get help with an aftermarket mod like that. The same with the shock above ( WE IFP ) it's a race shock getting help from a Pol dealer with that 1 is a several day process, no one has parts for that it is all special order. I would research w/polaris and try to find a common shock that is on several models that would benefit your needs. You never know what will happen out on the trail, and you ( IMO ) would want to be able to get service or parts if you walk into any polaris dealer . In other words, the simplier the better. Just something to consider when doing a mod.

I just ordered 1 rear Fox Zero shock from Headwaters. Just for the rear. Hopefully that'll do the trick. If not, I guess I'll put them all the way around. I'm sure that it will be a big improvement though.

Thanks for all of the input gentlemen.
