Walking and the tick threat`

Hey John, I read your journal and was surprised to see Gracie walking that tall grass in shorts. I thought the ticks up that way are awful? I was up this spring and saw a couple old boys with their socks pulled up over their jeans and asked em what that was all about and they said the ticks are terrible and will end up under your toes ect.... Is it not as bad up your way or what? Take care.

I thought the same in the Old RR Grade pic ... Ticks are everywhere, not just up that way. I picked off one on my leg first time with tweezers. . You betcha I'll be lookin" now and I was not walkin in deep woods.

It's weird, there are certainly are ticks in the UP and the Keweenaw! However, for some reason, in our general vicinity of the Keweenaw, they are more seasonal. They tend to get bad when temps are cool and the weather is wet. Otherwise they are not too bad.

We do perform "tick checks" on ourselves and the dogs after being out in the bush.

Just lucky I guess, but certainly still a concern!

Ticks are exoskeleton.
They can't survive hot and dry as well as cool and wet.
