Watersmeet to Houghton on SXS

Posted this on the ATV chat but didn’t get a response, trying here. Would like to run from Watersmeet to Houghton on the SXS like we used to do on the sleds. Do the trails and or routes connect up for this? Over the years I’ve been on about every inch of trails on the sleds in the UP, but now this is new to us on the SXS. Thanks guys!

Yes, done that route many times from Watersmeet to Houghton all the way to Copper Harbor. If you plan to cross the lift bridge, you must call ahead to either the Houghton police department or the Hancock police department. You must have a minimum of 3 machines in your group. Unless that has changed recently. Every time I've called ahead, we've never really had to wait all that long for the escort across.

The trail for sxs is not exactly the same as snowmobile but yes it can be done. Go to MITRALE website which can direct you to maps for routes. Or contact Running Bear Resort Mike and Linda are a huge part of the MITRALE club and they could help with extra questions you may have.

Exactly! I ordered the MITRALE map in the binder version and it shows every single route that is legal. Definitely worth the money!
