I finally took the plunge and got engaged! We were thinking about having a wedding next year by Munising. Does anyone know of anyone that has done this before near the lakeshore?

Unfortunately I can't help you but wanted to say congratulations. There must be something in the air because my oldest daughter just got engaged!

Not sure about Munising, but just up the road in Marquette, I see a ton of weddings being held in Presque Isle Park, which is right on the shores of Lake Superior. Very senic.

They have a couple of different pavilions that are available for rent. The big one is extremely nice.

Oh....and my advice on the whole marriage thing: "run...run like the wind"! :D

Thanks for the congrats!

I've been very hesitant about doing this whole thing but it's just time to move on with life for me.

She doesn't have a problem with my obsessions of fishing and snowmobiling so we get along well.

I'll have to check out those sites!

...!

Hummmm....didn't I read somewhere back aways, that a fellow took his bride to that area on an "anniversary" and then sort of accidently...but maybe on purpose, shoved her over the cliff?

After reading the above quote....I want to give you some counseling...don't do it! (push her over the edge)....not worth it....just leave, and don't come back....

Seriously....marriage is not as bad as some folks say. If you have done your homework, and you really know who it is you are marrying...then not only is it good, but it is great....most of these guys who complain about "who they married" either didn't take the time to really find out who they were getting hitched to, or what makes her tick. So....don't confuse 9th inning jitters for making a huge mistake...cause if you do have genuine doubts....you really shouldn't get married...and if you don't....it is the beginning of something that will improve your life to a degree you didn't know existed.

A good marriage is one that lasts for life, has plenty of excitement, and one where you can't wait to get home to share your day with. A good woman (or man) is hard to come by...and when you find one worth the effort to marry, don't put it off....because it will be the beginning of the rest of your life...chapter 2....and of course...then kids, if your lucky enough to have them.

You only go around once in life....kick as hard as you can, but use that brain sitt'n between your shoulders and to know opportunity ...when it is a knock'n. I know....I got one...but was too stupid to understand it at the time...but I am clear as a bell on it now. (she reminds me of it from time to time.)

First off, Congratulations, though I am not really sure about your statement about being "very hestitant".

I have a few quotes for you, maybe they will ease your hesitence.

"He who hesitates is last".-Mae West
"He who hesitates is a damned fool".-Mae West
"He who hesitates is not only lost, but miles from the next exit".-unkown

You never know what the future brings, there are no guarantees, but that is life, embrace it & it's opportunities. BTW, any spot on the shores Lake Superior would be a great place to marry, (as long as it's not black fly season) I wish you luck in finding that special place.-Mezz

Thanks for your replies anonomoose and mezz. My hesitation I think was a fear of commitment that has now left. We've been together for a year and a half and I believe that she's the one that will improve life for both her and I. That's the way it's been so far!

We got married at Presque Isle in Marquette. We used the Gazebo there overlooking the lake / breakwall. Was awesome. Weather cooperated, bugs too! You really have to plan it right with the weather. First two weeks of August are historically the best for weather and bugs. We had about 25 people at the ceremony and that was enough. If you do it outside have a plan b for rain, and keep it small. That is my opinion at least!
Think Snow!
