Years ago, I rode a trail from Wakefield to Silver City, it was a county road (519 I think) .... this was a trail divided by a median, on Polaris snow trails it doesn't show up ..... is trail still there??

You are probably thinking South Boundary Road. Michigan Trail 11. It used to continue west, past past 102, all the way to CR 519. I rode 11/South Boundary road when it was a wide trail with a berm in the middle, back around 2000 give or take. It had a berm all the way from 102 east/north up to Silver City. Didn't ride west pat 102 that time.

Since then, it's just been groomed wide, with no berm. And, a couple years ago, a landowner dispute closed the trail that ran all the way down the side of 519 to get you back to Wakefield. I guess off-trail riding/trespassing over 1 landowners property closed the whole length of the trail. Which is really too bad, it was part of a great loop.

Trail 11N is not around anymore. Best method to reach the west end of South Boundary by going up 102.
I don't anticipate ever seeing 11N coming back.(bummer) They are preparing to mine up on the north end of 519 soon. They are already logging and the road will be upgraded to handle heavy traffic of the mine.

This from the Gogebic Range Trail Authority (groomers & club in the area):

"11N (Wakefield, MI to South boundary Rd/White Pine): Closed indefinitely. Seeking local community support with ideas on how to reopen it. 200 yards of private property closed this 25 mile trail."

I never like to see trails close, but that trail usually sucked anyways. It took a long time to freeze up well enough for the groomers to get through, so it was usually rough with water holes until mid-winter. Then when it turned east on 152 towards the Porcupines, the road was usually plowed bare until it meets up with 102. I've been avoiding it for years.
