Western UP trip. Mileage?

We spend most of our time riding the eastern UP. My 13 year old son has never been to the western UP, and it has been a few years for me as well.

I hate driving the truck farther than I have to, so I was thinking of driving to Ishpeming and starting there.

Couple questions.

Trail mileage from Ishpeming to Krupps?

Trail mileage from Krupps to Copper Harbor?

Also, is there no trail from Chassell to Painesdale any more? There used to be one right?

Twin Lakes to Copper Harbor is 89 miles according to a trail map I have from a few years ago. I can't help on the other mileage. If you want some good trails to hit, let us know.

Krupps to Copper Harbor on the most direct route (old railway bed) is 90 miles. I suspect on the return you will want to loop around to Lac La Belle and possibly down to Gay if snow conditions are good. If so, round trip would be closer to 200 miles and very doable in a day.

There is no groomed trail between Chassell and Painsdale. By groomed trail, it is 130 miles from Ishpeming to Twin Lakes. This assumes taking trail #8 west and down through the gorge to Sidnaw, stop for fuel, then 8/15 north to 109.

Not sure when yet polarisrider1. Probably February.

Thanks for those mileages limey,mspease.

We will have 3 days of riding, and like 200-300 mile days so this should work good.

Maybe day 1 Ishpeming up to Big Bay and then over to Twin Lakes.

Day 2 Twin Lakes up to Copper Harbor and back with a loop LLB & Gay.

Day 3 Twin Lakes back to Ishpeming.

Wetmore to Ishpeming?

Ishpeming to Sidnaw?
