Can you believe this, Rep. Leon Young introduced a bill to name a "State Motorcycle" ?

What is wrong here, is this really necessary?
Wonder what Mr. Young is getting out of this. (What is he smokin'?)

They dream up this kind of stuff, but can't deal with real issues that need attention NOW!!!!
Nothing like wasting our tax dollars!

Will Harley be state's official motorcycle?
The Associated Press • February 4, 2010

MADISON — Milwaukee-based Harley Davidson would be named Wisconsin’s official motorcycle under a bill that’s gaining momentum in the Legislature.

The measure passed a state Assembly committee on a partisan 4-2 vote on Wednesday with Democrats backing it and Republicans against. It can now be taken up by the full Democratic-controlled Assembly.

It must pass there and the Democratic-controlled Senate before it heads to Gov. Jim Doyle for his consideration.

Bill sponsor Rep. Leon Young says Harley has been a good company not just for Wisconsin but the entire country. But opponent Rep. Joel Kleefisch of Oconomowoc argued that the designation amounted to just a “scrap or crumb” for the company that was hurt by recent business tax increases.

A company that would sell bikes for list price and grew like a tumor, and nobody could budget good enough to see themselves through this economy. F them and the garbage they make. I could care less if they move and/or go under.

I for one, sure don't think they are building "garbage".

+ 3. Not really sure why you are pointing your aggression toward Harley for this bill. I agree it is a waste of tax payers dollars to do this but you make it sound as though this is some kind of "bailout". If you take the time to learn about the company's history you might just be impressed with the tenacity and guts it took to get to where they are.

Man, if I were a voter in the Cheese State, this would definitely give me a wedgy!

The world needs to have this sort of wasted effort like they need a tax on tea.

Now if ONLY some of the voters would remember this at election time and throw this guy out for wasting so much time...seems not worthy of the ink to print it.

But hey, we have rummys like this in Michigan too, and prolly every where you go, they exist.

So you have to ask yourself, how did they ever get elected to begin with???

I personally have, and realized I'm not old enough evidently to ride one, couldn't go through a corner without scraping hard parts! Too bad Harley gave up on Buell!

Suppose the next "Bill" for Leon Young to introduce is the "State Oil" or "State Grease"

X5, I love my bike. The Harley Brand is as american as apple pie. Nothing wrong with a state bike. They also need a state lawn mower motor hence Briggs and Straton and a state plumbing fixture such as Kohler. Who cares? If it keeps jobs and promotes the state and it's products. It's more than cheese. And a state Beer! And a state time: Miller Time!!! lol.

X6-Love my bike--so much so in fact, that if it came down to choosing between sledding or biking, the sleds would be gone (and that's saying something, cuz' I love playing in the snow).

Obviously some jealous people knocking Harley. Can't imagine owning anything else.

Agreed that Gov't has more pressing issues than naming a state bike. Everybody already knows Milwaukee is the home of Harley, is it necessary to make it formal??

Not sure if this is the same bill, but the legislature also came up with the "State Micro-organism" - the little thing that changes milk into cheese. There are a lot greater things they should be solving than coming up with things that need to be captured as "State" things....I will be remembering these when election time comes around.

Wasting time in Wisconsin

More tax dollars going to waste. What else is new ? 2 years ago i purchased a used 98 Roadglide, Fuel injected. Love the bike, love the ride. But i have had many, many problems with it. Hopefully they have all been worked out of it by now, time will tell 2 months away from riding. To many dollars in repair bills, If not I will move on to another brand of bikes, with out no problem. Life is to short to put up with a broken bike.
