Now that thanksgiving has come and gone and we are in the midst of the holiday season with another year winding down. What little thing in life do you find you have reason to give thanks for?

I am thankful that I still have a job, I work at a countertop company, and obviously things have been terribly slow for the last two years, the company did what they had to do to stay open, and it has worked. Things aren't rosy so to speak, but it looks like the commercial end of things will be picking up as we go through winter. We have a big 305 unit vanilty job that we will be starting in December, that rocks!

I am also thankful for my health, and my family's health.

I am thankful that my daughter, freshman in high school, is carrying a 3.905 GPA for the first quarter. Not sure where she gets that from, certainly not me. Maybe it is the constant preaching my wife and I have done since she started school about getting good grades, and going on to college, she would be the first in my family to do so.

And last but not least, I am thankful for John's forecast today! LET IT SNOW BABY!!

Many many things, but at this exact moment, I would have to agree with Skylar's last statement, John's forecast today!!!

I knew it would come, but maybe we won't lose December all together...

Good health insurance!

More importantly, my family, my health, my employment, where I live, all the good folks on this site, I could go on and on, but those are the important ones!

I'm thankful for all the golf balls in my mayonnaise jar!!!

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him.

When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and started to fill it with golf balls.

He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls.

He then asked the students again if the jar was full. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else.

He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous 'yes.'

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand.

The students laughed.
'Now,' said the professor, as the laughter subsided, 'I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life.

The golf balls are the important things - family, children, health, friends, and favorite passions things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the things that matter like your job, house and car.

The sand is everything else -- The small stuff.

'If you put the sand into the jar first,' he continued, 'there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls, the same goes for life.

If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

So...

Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.

Play with your children.

Take time to get medical checkups.

Take your partner out to dinner.

There will always be time to clean the house and fix the dripping tap.

'Take care of the golf balls first -- The things that really matter.
Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.'

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented.

The professor smiled and said 'I'm glad you asked'.

It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend.'

Skylar what business do you work for? The place I work at things were slow for awhile but we are going pretty strong latly. Luckily we supply for the home depots in wisconsin and some into michigan and northern illinois.

I too am thankful for the basic things in life that we all to often take for granted. Good health, a safe and happy home with a great family that is there for you when the times are good and when there not so good. Freedoms afforded to me by those that have served our country and fought for those rights. Recent events have brought one of my niece and nephews closer to our family and their children who are special as well. I cant wait to get them into snowmobiling so I can share this passion that I enjoy so much with them.

I also would like to say that I am very, very thankful for the great winter we had last year! (maybe that will help buy us at least a taste of what we had last year)
