What Did I Get?

On 07-06-15, Gary n Neenah posted a photo of a Wisconsin Trail Pass. It showed a expiration date of June 30,2016. I recently attempted to buy a trail pass using the internet. At one point I had a problem. I called Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and was told by the female on the phone that "she could not help me in getting a trail pass". Sooooo, I tried again, and thought I was successful. Well I received what I (assumed) to be my trail pass. When I finally opened it, I have two orange decals which expire June 2018. The enclosed card indicates that these are Wisconsin Snowmobile Registration Certificates. Can anyone advise me,(1)What did I buy? (2) Will I still have to purchase another decal/trail pass? (3)Will still be required to place this sticker on my sled along with my Illinois registration? Help!!!

The Wisconsin DNR only SENDS the sticker....it has to be ordered through the AWSC (Assoc. of WI Snomo Clubs).

Here is the AWCS web address: https://awsc.org/

Actually, no. What he got was WI registration, he did not get a trail pass, and yes, he will have to buy one. AWSC only accepts orders from AWSC members, non club members must buy from DNR.

Has anyone explained this to WI DNR? As FLASHY36 says:

In short, confusion reigns!

X2 confusion for sure...What you wanted was a nonresident WI trail pass which can be purchased from WI DNR for $50 for each IL registered sled. Now since sleds are registered in WI join a WI club & purchase trail passes for $10 each after paying club dues thru AWSC. That would be your best deal unless riding in IL too...then need to check out IL trail requirements as well.

Oh, and in addition I see the DNR charges a $ 3.00 "convenience fee" to mail the tags to you.... so trail passes are actually $ 33.00......:(

Negative.
But as the pretty young ladies that work there remind me you can get your hunting and fishing licenses there.

What!?
Per AWSC "non member permit available at any DNR authorized agent"
Now you only buy the sticker you don't actually get it, they send it in the mail.
Anyways that's what awsc site says.

I sure hope WI riders are buying permits NOW! No idea how this will go if massive demands are made on AWSC website & DNR. So far very good response time but come December I just dont know?

UP DATE!!! I spoke with DNR by phone and they help me resolved the issue. What I had to do was return the Wisconsin registration decals, along with a letter stating that the registration was bought by mistake. The letter then indicated that I was requesting a refund. I then had to speak to someone else and purchase a Trail Pass. My sled is already registered in Illinois and while speaking to DNR personnel, I could not see any benefit to keeping to the Wisconsin registration. Hopefully I won't have any other issues of this type. Thank you all for the feedback.
