What Happened to John!

Some of us have been looking for news and I found this post on another media. Since John posted it, I'll assume he would approve of you all knowing what the heck happened. In John's words....

To ALL that that took the time to send well wishes and prayers, from the bottom of my heart I am grateful.
I’m so blessed to have so many wonderful people that have my back.
The attached pictures show what happened. Cutting the grass Saturday afternoon, I believe the roll bar on the mower got hung up on a branch of the old apple tree, causing the large branch in the pic to crash down onto my head. I ended up with a 7 cm gash on the back of my head, a crushed C7 vertebrae and small brain bleed.
The gash got stapled yesterday at Portage. The C7 will heal on its own, with the help of a cervical brace for the next 4-6 weeks. The brain bleed remained small, so I’m out of the woods with that.
Should be going home in the next day or two.
So I’m a very lucky man!
Thanks again to all of you

Kind of Ironic. A device designed to protect one's head and neck....is the cause for the very injuries that occurred. John, you must have Nine Lives, get well soon!

HolyCow John! That's no branch, that's a tree. Glad to hear that you are on the way to recovering and will fully recover.

Not sure if it was intentional but I got a chuckle out of your use of words in your statement that Gary posted.

I struggle every time I mow my daughter’s property, ROPS up or ROPS down? Her trees are generally young but then there is that old apple tree. Not to mention I have to mow the ditch adjacent to the hwy where I feel I could roll over with a strong wind (motorcycle riders-I never blow grass towards road).

Much appreciated.

Get well soon! I have had a few close calls with trees and ROPS on mowers, especially with the speed you can mow with some of these ZT's
