If I remember my history correctly, a man known as Ben Franklin had warned us such of this. Uncontrolled capitalism is term he used, and what it could lead to. Yep.

I must have missed something. I have been in retail for 30 plus years. We are more regulated and controlled now than we have ever been.

There is a ton of regulation in the drug industry. But, it is the nature of the business.
I have been managing a building that moved quite a few dollars in the past year. (B is the first letter) Great team with basically no issues and stricter than the government auditors. But, there are a lot of controls to keep drugs safe. It takes money to manage that process.

I will say that any drug you see advertised on the flat screen is going to be expensive. The Hep C drugs are out of control.

we used to regulate air fares?

now we cant regulate health care or the stupid wasteful advertising?

I have new for you....almost all the waste is due to one person getting 5 disability checks because they have 3 last names....and the wic cards...same thing....and the SS checks....ditto....you name each child with a different last name or father or don't take fathers name....now 1 person again....can receive many checks.....I see it all the time....one lady in line at grocery....swipped 15 cards till the amount was zero....you paid for that DANO....so did I....this is why TRUMP got elected....can you see down the tracks yet? its a triple head light coming fast towards all that....finally

My mother has passed on. However my wife and I tended to her in her upper years. My wife is a nurse of 38 years, and has seen a lot of the health care business, and why the costs are what they are. She and our local drug store, and pharmacy had a very good relationship. They advised how to manage the costs of moms drugs. Fixed income. The ones that were very costly in USA, they helped us to purchase these either in Canada, or Mexico. These were the exact same brand drugs, same package, and the same manufacturer. All produced in the USA. There was a unreal difference in price. No Bull

My wife was an RN for 30 plus years. She just recently retired. Actually she is not old enough to retire - she just finally had enough. When she started being an RN it was all about hands on patient care. Now it has gotten to be a cover your azz paperwork shuffle. We carried a malpractice policy on top of the policy the hospital had in place. The lawsuits in the medical field are also a big driver of health expense. It is out of control. Your average Dr. nowadays more than likely pays a huge malpractice policy that gets paid for by the patients. And if you are crazy enough to decide to be an OB Dr. you are probably paying $1000 per month for a malpractice policy. Gotta make sure every baby gets born perfect ya know. And if ANYTHING goes wrong or wasn't right to start with you are going to get rammed.

Grub your wife then knows what happened in the 1980's as they turned the healthcare in country from non profit, to for profit. We understand all of what you and your wife had seen, and went through. Yes the hospital where my wife worked her whole career was started as a district hospital. Their patient care was number 1 always. The administrator knew everyone by there name, from the bottom to the very top. But in the mid 90's, the hospital was taken over by a large corp. healthcare buss. Patient care went out the window! Nurses were considered second rate people. Very sad to see it all happen. The only the thing that matters to the corp is $$$$$$$$$. My wife's older brother was a surgeon, and watched it also.
