We just spent a few days in Sin City. Not a lot of sinning, but a lot of sightseeing for "Gary-in-Vegas". I'm proud to say that I didn't lose a dime at the tables, mainly because I don't gamble. (except for the Stock Market, and that's a subject for another day) We did help support the local economy with generous dollar amounts for Hotel Fee's, Hotel Tax, Ticket Surcharges, etc. All due to the fact that Nevada has no State Income Tax. And judging by the crowds, there's no shortage of revenue. A couple of pictures to share;
Surprisingly, there's "No Charge" for your picture with the Iconic Sign.
You can stand there all day long until the heat and the rattlesnakes drive you indoors!
The view from our room on the top of the Park MGM hotel.
Hockey Arena in the foreground, Allegiant Stadium (Raiders) in the distance.
One of my motivations for the trip was to see the Mojave Desert firsthand.
Coming from Wisconsin, my first thought was, "where's all the dang trees?"
Just around the bend, and at the top of my Bucket List....
the mighty, Hoover Dam. A must see when in the area.
The picture doesn't do justice to the enormous size of this structure.
Built during the Great Depression by men that made $5 a day with two days off per year.
The Tour Guide told us that the men seldom took their day off in fear that someone else would get their job!
It came in under budget and ahead of schedule.
Quite a feat considering it was a government project!
The Eight Turbine Generators that sit at the bottom of Hoover Dam.
The Pat Tillman Memorial bridge sits just downstream from the dam. The left side is Arizona, the right side is Nevada.
The bridge was constructed from each side, eventually meeting in the middle.
Here's my Mrs. on the same bridge.
Our last night in Las Vegas we had dinner at Gallagher's in the New York, New York Hotel-Casino.
I wrestled this bad boy, Bone-in Rib Eye for the better part of an hour. But I got it all down and fell asleep a happy man that night!
A good trip, met some new friends, made some memories and checked off another from my Bucket List.
Good Night from Las Vegas indeed!
