what size jets?

I have a stock 600 poo, 2001 model year.

I'll be going through the carbs soon and thought I might change jets while I'm in there.
I've heard the stock jets are somewhat fat, to be safe.

The problem is I have no idea what size to run, while still remaning safe.

Should I just leave them alone?

My wifes 2002 XC had 430 mains and I dropped hers to a 420. Could have went with a 410 but she doesn't understand the "feather the throttle" theory during real cold weather.

I had a 2001 EDGE-X 600, STOCK except for a HSP head.

STOCK was 430'S as you stated.

I ran 400's for several seasons, riding in the U.P.

After that I went with the HOLTZMAN ATAAC and 430's, spot on jetting in any weather altitude.

Disclosure CYA:
Read the plugs and piston wash and make your own determination.

420 is what I ran in my 05 600 switchback. Get the chart from your dealer. (they have them) the dealer can print you a copy for your sled. it gives jetting for your engine at different altitudes and air temps. I follow the guide Polaris sets forth on jetting. Running rich is cheaper than a rebuild.

Thanks for the good info.
I'll put the 420s in there and see how it works, sounds safe to me.

I'm not looking to push the envelope at all, and don't want to be tweaking on the sled all
the time. Just looking to make it a little better if I can, and keep it reliable.

happy sledding...
