What the beginning of a big storm looks like from space

Below is an image of what is called a baroclinic leaf cloud (bright white area from NW TX up to SW Midwest). It's the signature cloud formation at the beginning stages of a strong area of low pressure. Looks like this is going to be a big one for the areas discussed the past few days.

Johh, you may need to go south to ride! Keep up the good work

Or east a bit! We'll get ours, just need to hang in there a while longer. Plus this storm is looking more and more like a 4-8" producer for much of Houghton and Keweenaw Counties, maybe even a good chunk of Ontonagon County.

Thanks John at this point I would be happy with enough snow for my grandkids for gravity sleddin over Xmas week. Never been a Xmas in the last 9 years that was not white & have enough snow to take the grandkids gravity sleddin. I was very worried about this Xmas & some of the older grandkids 12 now so may be too cool to sled.:( The younger ones 6-8 are good to go but need snow to play in. Nothing like twin grand daughters to keep Grandpa or better know as "Big Bear" on the move.lol:)

Actually John brought my snow stress level down with his response & his graphics have me on the edge of some decent snowfall as he well knows. Just bend a little to the west or grow in size & most of WI will benefit from this storm.:)

I never stressed out about snow until I bought a snowmobile.

I don't get to see my grandkids often so want snow for them to do outdoor fun stuff with them. They can always play electronic games at home. When you get to be my age you are in snow storm countdown before you end up south in warm weather where it never snows. My snowmobile will see snow up here sooner or later but Xmas comes just once this year.lol:)

I wish I could see what it looks like from here on earth. :( Our area is in the no snow belt.

Thanks again John, for all your work.
