A friend sent this to me today and said this pic is from a cam he has mounted to a tree. He said it is in lower central MI. Is he messing with me?

I agree it looks like a couger. But with the feeder legs in the back ground and the dirt ground I would say this is down south somewhere.

I actually saw on the news the other day that there was a cougar sighting in wisconsin so it could very well be true i dont remember exactly where it was in wisconsin though

There was a cougar in Anoka MN and had gone over to Stillwater. The think it crossed the river into Wisconsin the other day. Cops had it recorded on their dash cam....

The cougar that crossed the St Croix River into Wisconsin was sighted several times the last few days in St Croix and Dunn Counties. There were a couple photos from guys' trail cameras.

Was a hungry cougar. Are they allowed to bait?

Not sure of the details. The picture was supposedly taken in Ionia County, MI. Baiting deer I know is illegal. Cougars I would think is illegal too. I don't believe Cougars especially that big would be in mid lower, MI.? This pic was sent from my brother in law, the big time hunter. I will see him Sunday and drill him for details.

Its hard to tell from the pic but from the (smaller) body size it looks like a southern deer or a really big cat. I would ask him to take you to the site of where the pic was taken. Lots of pic's of Michigan cougars on the net nowadays but only 2 have been confirmed by the DNR the last I knew. They were both in the u.p.

That pic has been floating around the internet for awhile now. I got a email saying it was a pic from a trail cam near cadott, wi in october. Friend of mine had even seen it before that and stated he looked on the internet and found info that it was from west virginia and had been doctored. If you look at it, that cat is not even struggling at all. I am sure they are strong but.?.?.?

I agree that the pic is fake, the cats front legs are way out of position and what is the cat hold the deers head up with, its ear? Definately fake.

Thanks guys, I think it is fake also. Brother in laws????? Well, his sled has a blown motor so this is what he sends me. My wife is talking to her brother as I type chewing him out about the pic. To much fun here at the family (her side) Christmas party. I just drink the egg nog and smile.

Clearly a fake....that deer is no doubt 200+ pounds 'undressed', and a cat would be pulling this deer along, not striding with it. It would not be straddling it, and once the deer is down the feast would begin to lighten the load....no other predators would challenge this cat for the kill so this is a doctored photo, for sure. This is not a leopard ready to climb a tree...they eat on the ground.....once enough eaten, then perhaps pulled to a site it can return to.
