We have been coming up there the 2nd week of December for years. We have been rained on, melted out and also have seen some stellar snow. It was really hit and miss before the JD website. Watch the forecasts and conditions.
This is two years ago with fresh snow on the trail.

We have seen good and bad conditions throughout the year. Last year is a perfect example. The 2nd week in January was incredible and then it melted.
We put about 60 miles on these carbides the 2nd week of January in 2007 before needing replacement.
Conditons can vary quite a lot across the UP on any given day as well.
