Where should I line up the tunnel protectors?

I just picked up an 02 500 XCSP. It is studded, but there are no tunnel protectors. I am assuming it would be unwise to ride it like this, correct?

If I should install them, where on the tunnel should they go? Pardon the amateur paint skills, but bear with me.

When riveted or bolted to the underside of the tunnel, do I want the tunnel protectors to line up with the red, green, yellow, or blue spots on the track?

I would think you could attach them how ever you like, but removing the seat may make it easier if you are bolting. Seat comes off pretty easy actually.

jccams- They do. If you have heat exchangers in your tunnel that line up with the red and they are about 1 1/2" WIDE then you are all set. cardinal43- Take a pic. of what you have in tunnel and I will let you know.

You guys are right on. There are heat exchangers that line right up with the red. I appreciate the help! Now, I don't have to complete another project before the snow flies! Thanks

You really don't need the tunnel protectors for this sled???? That doesn't seem to make logical sense to me. I've not put studs on an Edge chassis, but if they sell them for that sled, doesn't it seem as though they are needed? with a heavy bottom-out while riding, although you might not puncture your heat exchangers, you could rip a good hole in the tunnel. If your studs are 1 1/2 long, and the heat exchanger is only 1 inch thick, AND the 'red' spot is actually lower than the general track lugs, seems to me that spells trouble..... But I could be wrong.
