Hello all...

I was looking for a interesting place to ride with my family this weekend that’s closer to southern Wisconsin and Crivitz peaked my interest. I’ve passed through town many times on my way up north but never ridden in the area. There appear to be lots of scenic (waterfalls) things to see and plenty of stops along the way which works well when you have kids along who are 9 and 11 years old.

Have you ridden in this area? If so, I would love to hear from you. What are your favorite trails? Is there a waterfalls that’s more spectacular than others that we should try to see? What’s your favorite stop for lunch and dinner? What else? I’m sure there’s other things I am simply unaware of.

Hoping to get a lot of feedback from all the awesome riders on this forum. Planning to ride in this area tomorrow.

Thanks!
Chris

Crivitz certainly is nice, one work of caution though is to ride mid-week only.
Those from Green Bay call it the "Near North Vacationland" as it is only 90 miles but feels like a world away (TM).

Stay south of Cty Rd C when you get by Athelstane up to Dunbar-Goodman areas there are a lot of Atvs/Utvs on there trails and the trails get rutted up and destroyed and they are out of control on icee corners almost gotten hit many times have a Cabin just north of Athelstane ride south not as many trails that allow them or west to Forest cty Amberg and Wausaukee I believe don't allow Atvs/Utvs on there trails

Been a few years since rode south to that area. Some scenic trails along the river, not sure if the flowage is still a marked trail. Gateway & Jungle Jim's we're good stops. Plenty of loops and areas to go. I'd get a map and check out the area, should be good riding with all the new snow. Heading up later myself.

As stated, look for the trail that follows the river towards Silvercliff area. Nice overlooks. Otherwise, basically wooded trails.

My advice is to stay away from any area that allows any ATV/UTV's on the snowmobile trails. Wheeled vehicles on the snowmobile trail absolutely destroy it! This will turn your trip into a total disaster, and fast! It's worse when your time is limited, and you have kids along. Not fun! Sad to say, but so it is. Been there, done that!

This is GREAT information. Please keep it coming! So stay South of Hwy C. Got it. Ridiculous that they allow ATV/UTV’s on the trails. They get most of the year to play. Shouldn’t be on the trails for the 8 weeks we get our turn. QUESTION: Where can I park my SUV and trailer for the day that’s close to the trail? Thanks!

I will make a note on Jungle Jim! Thanks for the info!

just got back from our weekend staying in Mountain. SE of Crivitz. We rode up that way Saturday and were impressed. Had never sledded that area before and we will definitely be back (depending on conditions). Their trails are well maintained, not nearly as crowded as other areas we've stayed, and extremely well marked. Next weekend will be crowded for a big fishing tournament, btw.
Side note, Spur of the Moment ranch in Mountain, great place to stay.

Thanks to everyone for you suggestions. Quick report from last Saturday.

Trails were awesome!!! Rode trail 18W to Woodie’s for lunch. Great food and the people working there are awesome. Took trail 5 which runs along the Peshtigo River. The east side “scenic trail” is amazing. I’ve ridden all over Northern WI and the U.P. For 30 years. I can’t believe I have never ridden these trails before. Arguably some of the best in Wisconsin.

We will definitely be back.
