The float 18 is a nice pack but on the small side for storage if you carry a lot of gear. I have a float 30 that I wish was just a tad bit better laid out in regards to storage. I hear the new throttle 22 is nice with a re-signed internal setup that puts the packs bottle and deployment system down lower in the pack for better balance and storage. You can't go wrong with any of them it just comes down to fit and size of storage needed. Snowbigdeal.com is a good place for info and they're very knowledgeable about all the models an options. I'm sure others will chin in.

That's a killer price!

I carried all I need in a 15 liter pack for years, and just switched to a 5L pack this year, so I'm pretty sure you'll be ok with this. For that price, you could always get a tunnel bag too, and put the non survival items in the tunnel bag.

Got a few buddies with the 18 & they seem to like them.

Just so everyone is clear on the price, once you add the air canister and the hazmat charge, it comes to $534.99. Still a great price, but I didn't want anybody to be surprised when they checked out.

And not to defer you from purchasing one of your own there is and maybe more than one outfit that rent avy packs by the week. Outdoor Equipment rentals rents them for $69 per week. I rented 4 Bca tracker 2 from them last year for a week and it was under $25 bucks per unit with shipping. Renting this equipment is very affordable especially for us riders who can only make it out west once a year.

The cost of the hazmat charge for shipping the charged bottles can be a bummer but if you have a dive shop in your area or a local fire station with scba refill station you can have an empty bottle shipped and save the high shipping charges. I had my bottle filled in West Yellowstone last year for $10 after a accidental deployment.
