We are considering going to white pine this upcoming weekend. We always stay in Mass City and ride North. Those trails have always been very very good. We have never been to white pine area and am wondering how the trails are thataway. I hate to make changes to a good thing so please shoot me straight. Do they compare to the Keewenaw trails?

Thanks

South Boundry is better than any trail in the Keweenaw if you like em flat and smooth.

Head to Ontonogan if you like them winding through the woods.

The grooming is pretty good up there most years. Not sure if they are still sharing a groomer for this season.

Worst part or best part of the ride can be right around Bergland if you head up that way. This was early season riding but you can see we were riding in slop. Things should be much better now.

I luv the White Pine area mix of wide open & twisty trails, LOC ,great off trail depends on what you want? You said Mass City and ride North so you must like RRBs. White Pine much better than Trail 3 RRBs Mass City and North to me. Maybe you want to ride Trail 8 east & west if you like good snow & RRBs.

Forgot. Why don't you just stay where you stay in Mass City & then ride to White Pine ,LOC Bergland whatever? Just a few short trail miles not a big deal & ride both areas. Rule for me I never ride west of Bergland too much traffic not much to see.

NW of Bergland is Trail 102 to trail 11 North to LOC, beautiful ride, I agree west of Bergland towards Ironwood and Hurley is annoying but still some decent trails north and south of those areas also.

I would minimize my driving and stay at one of the many properties on Lake Gogebic, plenty of restaurants, gasoline, repair shops if needed, rentals if needed then sled to all the destinations previously mentioned and beyond!!!

Full disclosure: I have rode out of the Bergland area for 10+ years and when I'm not up riding I rent my property, so I may have a somewhat biased perspective.

Team ManBearPig was headquartered in White Pine for 2 years. WP is a great area for trails and for off trail. We've moved to Mass City this year for a change of scenery. PM me for a some awesome off-trail ideas in the WP area.

Just got back from Gogebic on New Years eve day. Trails wrer great everywhere. We went to Marinesco, Bruces Crossing, Mass City, LOC, Trail 11 & 102, Trail 3 to Houton. We barely hit a bump.
