Anyone ever stay there? Looking for the middle of March. Wondering if we can ride from there? Any info would be great. Thanks.

Never actually stayed there Matt, but would assume it would be kind of a pain to ride from there in mid march. They don't groom down to that point and the "trail" along the side of 130 gets pretty nasty, and at that time snow down that far is pretty thin usually. Could be mud and boulder hopping all the way up the mountain.

I see you guys have been bitten by the mountain riding bug -eh? Now we just have to get Scott and Jordy out there to show them what real riding is all about-lol!

last year was awesome. can't wait to go back. we can't decide as a group. we really want to ride from where we stay, but mountain meadow is to small. couple of guys want something a little nicer. may be leaning towards cooke city miontana.

jordi's grandma bought a house in wyoming by togwotee i think. he may have been out there already. as far as scott. i sure hope we can get him out there. we'd need to get him down here though.

I haven't stayed over there. I can tell you though, that the snow is always deeper on the west side. Its about another hour and a half in the truck I think. Still closer than going out to Cook or Tog.

You can ride up from winter creek. The only area that can suck, is the 1/2 mile from Winter Creek, to Hwy 130. This stretch can be all snow in the morning, and all mud by afternoon depending on the weather. It is not uncommon for it to be 45 degrees in the afternoon in March that low. Once you get to hwy 130, it will be snow the whole way up. However, you are adding a 8 mile trail ride to the beginning and end of each day. I like staying at Winter Creek, but we just trailer up the hill.

Fyi, we have been going out to Alpine last couple years and its minimum 24 hours in the truck from here. Average is 26 and thats without hitting any weather. We have grown tired of the ride and are planning on hitting the snowies again this year. I won't say its not worth the experience( the terrain is awesome) but the ride is a bit much. After about 20 hours your ready to jump out of your skin. Especially when you realize you passed up great ridding about 8 hours ago!

We have stayed several times on the West side of the Snowies, at Ten Mile Inn http://www.tenmileinn.com/ Hosts Kimberly and Ken are awesome, and the Cabins are real nice, only a few Years old (New in 07) and I beleive they are buliding 2 new ones Now. Gas is right across the Street, and the groomed trail is at the end of their driveway.

finally made a decision. we are going back to the same house we rented in centennial last year. leaving march 17th and leaving wyoming the 25th.

You can ride from winter creek if they get enough snow. There is no need to ride all the way up 130 though. Brent from winter creek could give you directions but basically you get out to 130 and go straight across. There is a trail that winds up the mountain and eventually will meet up with I think T-trail between Albany and Libby Flats. We spent an entire day out there and never made it to the trail. Not many people ride that area so it is pretty nice, but if you want the big hills for climbing it would be better to trailer to greenrock.
