I don't want to steal John's Thunder here but his forecast usually happens in October. Kind of a coincidence as I was thinking of the same thing today. I picked up a copy of the Farmer's Almanac and for Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan they're predicting, guessing, forecasting, a mild and dry December and January then a snowy and cold February and March. They emphasized a late winter well into March for the upper midwest.
I was north of Hwy 8 in Wisconsin over the past week and there are trees beginning to turn color up there. Also "the Indians are making firewood like crazy".
