wiring heated shield ???

sled is a 2000 polaris 700 sks. flat 2 prong behind ignition, or should I just wire it into connection by voltage regulator ? The reason I ask is I can't get a voltage reading out of plug. also any ideas on necessary voltage for shield ? Thanks in advance!!!

I have 2010 switchback. There is a 2 wire plug above airbox on mine. I have my heated shield and 12 volt adapter for gps wired there. Just had it done. I dont know if the year diff. matters. That is where all 12 volt accessories are to be wired according to dealer. THINK SNOW !
