I traveled this stretch of 41 on Saturday and noticed the substantial amount of open water and floating ice in this area where 41 crosses Lake Butte des Morts in Oshkosh. I don't mean to be insensitive but it makes me wonder what some people are thinking, or are they?
Authorities search for snowmobiler who went through ice

OSHKOSH — Crews from three fire departments and the Winnebago County Sheriff’s Department dive team were searching Sunday for the operator of a snowmobile presumed drowned in Lake Butte des Morts near U.S. 41.
Sheriff’s Lt. Lara Vendola-Messer said a passerby on 41 saw the snowmobile enter an open stretch of water about 1,000 yards north of Skipper Bud’s marina and about 200 yards west of the Lake Butte des Morts bridge in the Town of Algoma shortly before 7 a.m.
“The witness immediately called the sheriff’s department and rescue crews responded,” Vendola-Messer said.
Air rescue boats from the Omro-Rushford fire departments and Neenah-Menasha Fire Rescue were used to search the water with assistance from the sheriff’s department dive team.
Crews on the ice said they could clearly see where the snowmobile entered the water, but could not find the sled or its driver.
As of late Sunday afternoon, search crews were still trying to locate the victim.
Vendola-Messer said the search would continue until dark.
“We will reassess the situation after that,” she said.
Authorities were not releasing additional information concerning the incident.

We should include condolences to the family and friends here. But all things considered, this area has been in the Thaw Mode for weeks, waterskipping at 7 a.m. on a Sunday, in an area commonly known for hazardous conditions...
Too many Red Flags to mention.
