Wrightstown Bridge

I thought the Wrightstown bridge (Brown Co, WI) was supposed to have a designated snowmobile lane. I drove across the new bridge last week and see there are two sidewalks, both plowed down tight to concrete, but no area for sleds to cross. I know when I first viewed the masterplan for this bridge it did have something for sleds. If not, the past bridge was bad, but this one is 2x's as long and will really suck. For those that are not familiar with the area, this is the only place to cross the fox river for over 30 miles. Anyone know what happened?

I live in Freedom but have not been to Wrightstown since summer; did they tear down the old bridge already?

It might be just a lack of communication. As an example our club reached out to the highway department and asked that they leave some snow at one of our short road runs, maybe 200 feet of shoulder that they pickup the plow so we have a bed to ride on. Our trail system also crosses Interstate 41 between Neenah and Oshkosh on a new bridge and we use the sidewalk as a trail crossing which remains unplowed during the season. Keep in mind that local politics can come in to play, if the club has good relations with the highway department they might be able to work with you.

I thought there was some sort of sign that stated all motorized vehicles must stay off sidewalk. I will look more closely next time I cross.
