Yamaha Hyfax Wear

I have asked before here about wear on my vector hyfax. They wear quickly. I plan to install scratchers, run my track looser and run the graphite hyfax. My question is would a pair of picks down the middle help at all with wear or hurt me. Currently the track has no studs. Thanks!

I would try riding in more snow.

Somethng is wrong standard slides wear quickly to a point then stop but if you are riding in marginal conditions you get what you get. Duponts will do the same wear quickly to a point & stop. Scratchers should only be used if riding frozen trails which I would wait for better conditions scratchers not usefull for good trail conditons. Studs are for traction applications not lubing hyfax. I think you are jumping the gun on Yam hyfax wear & need to wait, watch & not replace so quickly.

Last winter was my first Yamaha ride. I have always been cat but love this Yamaha. The snow was plenty but midweek riding and packed hard by groomers. Sometime first over the trail. Not much lube. Perhaps I am worrying too much. I am a maintenance freak and I have heard they wear to a point and settle down. Just thought picks would "kick up " some snow dust for lube also. I am just looking for some different ideas on how to extend hyfax life.

I know hyfax wear can drive you crazy but just settle down & watch the slides stop wearing. If you keep changing them you will get the same result wear & stop & sounds like you keep changing before you have too.Buddy has an Apex SE 128 track & he got agood 4k miles from standard slides. Studs have nothing to do with extending hyfax wear & introduce other problems that make hyfax wear a non concern. If you don't want studs for traction don't go there.

I would assume the new Vipers don't have this "problem" being based on the AC chassis, true?

i have 3950 miles on mine the front bend is worn the most in the back there still like new i will put new ones on in dec just to start fresh for next season

i have an 09 apex and 07 Attack and got around 2500 miles on the hyfaxs before i changed them could of probably made it to 3000 miles but changed them to be safe i think the hyfax wear is an over blown issue ps they both do have marginal snow kits on them that might help extend the life of them a little.

How did you like your Viper? Any problems? 3950 is a very good year. I only got on about 2000 combined on my two Rushes due to engine failures on my Adventure. Ordered two new Vipers for me and wifey and I'm just chomping at the bit to get them. Im hoping the ride is comparable or better than the Rush. I'm sure the mileage will be better as we were only getting about 12 mpg on a good day. And being able to run reg gas will be a plus too. Any info you have is appreciated.......
