I have a 2010 (not 100% sure on the engine year) Yamaha phazer 500cc four stroke that i am putting in a go kart. i am having some trouble getting the engine in time, if anyone has any experience in timing these engine i would love to get some advice.
Here is whats going on, i have lined up the timing makes on the flywheel with the crank housing. the manual says piston 1 should be at TDC now ive heard from some people that piston 1 is the piston closes to the clutch side, but the piston that is closes to the flywheel is at TDC when the timing marks are lined up. there are no marks on the flywheel when the piston closes to the clutch is at TDC. so i am having trouble figuring out which piston is 1, (the manual also has a diagram showing piston 1 being the piston that is closes to the clutch). if anyone has any advice it would be much appreciated.
