Yamaha Power Steering

Looking at a leftover Vector with std. steering vs. a 2012 Vector with power steering. $1100 difference, is the power steering worth it?

Going to be a difficult question to answer since not many have ridden Vector with EPS brand new this year. EPS on Apex is a huge improvement when riding all day & horsing around a big Apex 4s with Bergstrom triple points up front. $1100 includes new Vector chassis & EPS not just EPS. EPS will be a standard so worth it in the long run.:)

I rode the new LTX at the yamaha event in Munising last year. I actually liked it better than the Apex long track. You can really get spoiled with that power steering.

I found the write up on the apex for you in relation to power steering, here is a short caption from the article.
A power steering unit is no small item to stuff into an already crowded and complex underhood area of this yamaha. The extra space needed to mount the servo, drive motor and its electrics plus the gear set to drive the eps takes up considerable width and necessitated some fairly big changes to the Apex's layout. The downside is the whole unit is mounted quite high in the chassis and adds to the top-heaviness of the sled that has a tendancy to lift its inside ski when flexed hard in tight corners. The upside is the power steering completely masks the effect and this Apex corners much flatter than any former versions. I know you were looking at a vector but I found this interesting reading.
