Yamaha vector suspension shock

I have a 2008 Vector GT. The shock adjuster for rear suspension failed. This sled has the dial on the tunnel to adjust for a soft or hard ride. I call it the dial a prayer. Anyway the cable broke. Other than that the shock is fine. Looks like a little project to install a new cable. Any suggestions or just ride it. Honestly not impressed with ride from day one. An LTX would have been the way to go. Thanks ahead of time.

had the cable break and fixed twice. probably due to ice build up.then got a scratch on the shock shaft and all the oil leaked out. took sled to a shock rebuilder and he welded a new shaft in the shock. he deleted the cable adjust and set it up with a firm ride. sled does not bottom out on hard hits any more. very happy with the shock rebuild and even more happy with getting rid of cable adjust.

Broke the cable on my Apex LTX a few years ago. Run over a few branches that were on the trail and they took the cable out.
Had the dealer repair it.

i would repair it for sure. i would first send in the shock to pioneer performance for a rebuild/revalve job. the revalve gives a much wider range of usefull damping than factory specs and also is valved for your weight. see pioneers website. the newest cable is a third version and, while not unbreakable, is much more durable than your original. that adjuster Yamaha gave us is really quite effective, i tune on mine often as trail conditions or speeds change. too bad more people didn't understand it and use it, perhaps Yamaha would not have discontinued it.
