You know what gets me about trail updates.

some clubs never update. I know grand rapids got over a foot of snow, and there is not one word of a trail update or mention of it anywhere that I can find. I have checked and googled and can't find anything about it. There is another website too that puts all those together and still no updates on Grand Rapids area. Grand Rapids isn't the only place with no updates, But anyway, I am now going to drive a few hours father North and stay in that area because of trail updates and good communication. Its just an example that clubs lose money on business if no one can take 5 minutes to e-mail a simple trail update. I would rather drive 5 hours and now were going to drive 7 hours to know that there is good snow. I just don't understand it.

I agree with you 100%. We have a cabin in Higgins Lake and have been wondering about the snow and trail conditions. They have had snow since 12/4 but there have been no updates what so ever.

I just emailed the Grayling Business Bureau asking for a update.

It's hard to make plans to go and spend money in a town w/o knowing what is going on. You would think the GBB would be all over that.

If they do not want the responsibility of keeping a updated report then let someone else do it!

Maybe you should call a business that may know.

Those people may be out working so they can put food on the table.

Also, just curious but to provide a trail update, wouldn't you want them to ride a little to see. I would imagine that the lakes are not even close to safe enough.

just my 2 cents.

The reason Grand Rapids don't trail report is because you need trails to report about. The White Pines trail starts North of Grand Rapids by about 15 miles and runs to Cadilac that trail is considered a Linear state park. The west Michigan trail is totally chopped up. best to ride that from Wayland south, They have a club that reports if there is anything to report. The Muskegon trail is Paved and is seldom open due to low snow amounts. Pellston has the snow right now in lower MI.

Grand Rapids trail report. Minimum trails. Rain, slush, heavy snow. Ground is not froze, lakes are not even starting to freeze. 37 degrees. Head north.

All I can say is:

Pick up the phone if you want IMMEDIATE updates.

Yes, there are places that cater to us "interneters" but there are also a lot who do not, or most likely do not know HOW to post on the internet, much less where to go on the internet.

Remember, (As is the case with my Dad) a lot fo these people are not internet savvy.

Just talked to my neighbor in Leota/harrison we have 8.5 heavy wet snow on the ground and 3 to 6 coming. Let's consider the 8.5 as base, he said it would be good for the machines after the next 4 inches!! Lets ride!!!

Trail update for Grand rapids area. When the groomers go out, they report, Then it is posted on MSA site and fishweb. Right now, the ground is not frozen, there is no base, and there is a lot of corn standing, so some trails are not even marked completely. When we have a base and rideable trails, a report will be posted. On last weekends 12", There was no base anywhere, the snow band was very narrow, and it was all fluff. I saw some pix of guys on the musketawa trail, 2 sleds and it was right down to the pavement. Be patient guys. The groomers need to pack it down to get a good base. If everybody rides on the first couple inches, the trail will never set up right, and it will be crap all year. This is true everywhere. Ask a groomer driver if you dont believe me. LET THEM DO THEIR JOB, AND THE TRAILS WILL BE NICE.
